BCW President --Linda Bates Parker Receives ADVANCE Award
BCW President & Founder, Linda Bates Parker, is the recipient of the
ADVANCE Mentor Award for her dedication and commitment to mentoring
African American students at the University of Cincinnati. The award,
presented st the 20th Anniversary of the ADVANCE organization at its
Banquet and Celebration in May 2006, recognized "Ma Parker's lifetime
commitment to supporting students in higher education. The event
attracted several hundred ADVANCE past alumni, current officers, members
family members, UC officials and corporate sponsors to the UC Great
Hall.
This honor adds to a series of honors Linda has recently received
including: The United Way of Cincinnati's New Century Leadership Award
recognizing Linda's life-long contributions to diversity. She also has
received the Global Citizen Award from the Cincinnati Chamber of
Commerce for her development of International Conferences and her work
with international students.
This past September, Linda was featured in the National Association of
Colleges and Employers (NACE) Journal as a "thought Leader" in her
profession and featured her reflections on a 20 plus year career in the
field of career development. Previously, Linda was inducted into the
NACE Academy of Fellows at their annual conference. The Academy of
Fellows Award is one of the highest distinctions that is extended to
members of NACE nationally for their body of work and lifetime
professional accomplishments. Linda is one of only 15 Career Development
Center Directors in the country to be inducted into the Academy of
Fellows, since the Academy's inception in 1994 .
